2016 marks an interesting year for Farida. Last year saw our return to the world of electric guitars with the amazing CT Series, which players’ loved on account of the range’s sheer versatility and unique design. This year, however, we’re returning to our acoustic roots with a stunning new range of guitars created with the individual in mind.
At Farida, we’re known for crafting acoustic guitars which combine superb build quality, eye-catching design and world-class tone, and this year’s new crop are no different. What is different though is the choices we’ve made in terms of tone woods used within the range. Continuing on with our passion for innovation in the acoustic guitar world, we’ve found some of the most interesting tone woods on the planet and included them in the new range to offer something truly unique for the modern player.
For starters, each guitar in the new SB Series line-up introduces some striking new tone wood combinations. The SD35 dreadnought-style guitar features a solid Tibetan spruce top but mixes it with a frankly gorgeous Asian koa side and back which adds a warmth to the tone, complementing the natural brightness evident in the spruce.
Elsewhere, the SM35 parlour style guitar is the natural successor the Farida’s much loved M2 guitar, bringing with it a vibrant combination of solid cedar for the top and ziricote for the back and sides. This under-appreciated wood is hugely attractive and brings with it a real brightness and volume.

As well as the SB Series, Farida is also introducing the G Series range of acoustics. This new line-up consists of three guitars which deliver the tonal projection and clarity of a Grand Auditorium body shape, but in a slightly smaller size.
This allows the best of both worlds; the volume and authority you’d expect from a larger guitar but sized to make it comfortable for longer playing sessions or for travelling with.
The key difference between the models in this series again come from the woods chosen. The G-10 and G-15 both have a mahogany side and back, whereas the G-25 uses Spalted Maple. For the tops however, it is the G-10 and G-25 that are similar, as they both use Solid Sitka Spruce whilst the G-15 series utilises Solid Mahogany.

With a wide range of different woods used, there is something for everybody in this series. The tops of each model are predominantly solid cedar, however the sides and back of each model offer a variety of different of tonewoods that compliment an individuals style of playing. Woods used include mahogany, sonokelin, rosewood and pau ferro. More information on each model can be found in the table below.
