After electro-rock band My Passion called it quits in 2012 ex-members Jon Gaskin (Guitar and Vocals), Jamie Nicholls (Drums), Andé D’Mello (Guitar) and Simon Rowlands (Bass) formed alt-rock band Fort Hope.
Hailing from Hertfordshire, the band have released three EP’s (‘The Future’s In Our Hearts’, ‘Choices’ and ‘Fort Hope’) and released their first mini album ‘Courage’ on 11th May 2014 which hit no. 8 on the UK Rock and Metal album charts.
In January 2014 the band headed out on their first UK headline tour and also announced they would be releasing their debut mini album ‘Courage’ through Manchester based indie label LAB Records. Later in 2014 Fort Hope performed at the world famous Sonisphere rock music festival held in Knebworth, Hertfordshire. This was the first Sonisphere after the festival’s untimely hiatus in 2012 that saw the festival cancelled. In November 2014 Fort Hope embarked on a tour with another Farida endorsee Mallory Knox and graced 15 towns and cities across the UK, capping off the run of shows with a night at London’s Electric Ballroom in Camden.
The band certainly haven’t been slowing down through 2015. Fort Hope have seen extensive radio play on BBC Radio 1 with Fearne Cotton calling their song ‘Plans’ “definitely one of the most exciting songs of 2015”. It will be another busy summer for Fort Hope as they will be embarking on a tour with US post-hardcore legends ‘Finch’ as they tour large club venues across the UK during May and June including London KOKO.
Bassist Simon Rowlands uses a Farida JTB-13 Bass Guitar in Olympic White and he says;
“Seriously the best bass I’ve ever played. I love it. Sounds phenomenal just straight into my amp”.
