Irish singer-songwriter SOAK (Bridie Monds-Watson) hails for Derry in Northern Ireland and is a hotly tipped artist for 2015. After arriving in 2015 at the top of many ‘artists to watch in 2015’ shortlists including the coveted ‘BBC Sound of 2015’ poll judged by leading artists and music industry insiders, SOAK is set to have a huge 2015.
Aged just 18, SOAK only picked up a guitar four years ago and dropped out of school to focus on music. SOAK describes her music as “dreamy” with SOAK being an amalgamation of the words ‘Soul’ and ‘Folk’,
Her latest tracks ‘Sea Creatures’ and ‘B a noBody’ have quickly gathered a huge amount of UK radio play including an ‘A list’ track on BBC Radio 1. As the first signing to CHVRCHES’ label she released a track called ‘Blud’ and later toured with Tegan & Sara and George Ezra. Her debut album, which will be called ‘Before We Forget How To Dream’ will be released June 1st on the Rough Trade record label.
SOAK, who is appears wiser than her years, cites varied sources of inspiration, most notably Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, Damien Rice, Foals.
Amongst others SOAK uses a Farida M-26E Parlour guitar in a vintage sunburst finish.
