Wombats Farida CT20

The British indie-rock trio the Wombats, who are heavily influenced by post-punk and electronic-influenced pop, formed in 2003 while studying at LIPA (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts). The band consists of Matthew Murphy (vocals and guitar), Dan Haggis (drums) and Tord Øverland-Knudsen (bass). Releasing their first album ‘A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation’ in 2007 followed by their second album ’This Modern Glitch’ in 2011.

Guitarist, Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy, helped create a Farida ‘Artist Designed’ signature model based around the CT-20. The CT-20 is a very unique looking axe that oozes retro charm but maintains modern production methods and quality. The onboard electronics are perhaps the biggest design ‘twist’ on this guitar. The two single-coil pickups are permanently ganged together, to form a widely spaced ‘humbucker’ of sorts. These can be switched from parallel to series, to add a tonal boost, and a regular tone control is eschewed in favour of a kill switch. The headstock features The Wombats’ logo.

As is typical with Farida ‘Artist Designed’ signature models, only 25 were produced, making this retro-chic guitar highly collectable.

The Wombats will be touring again in 2015 with a new studio album to follow.
